Dr Ytsma is currently on maternity leave. We look forward to her return in the winter of 2024
I’v been working with families for the past decade as their primary care provider and take pride in the opportunity to advocate for their health and help them achieve their health goals with realistic and sustainable approaches.
As a mother of two and someone who herself struggled with fertility and pregnancy concerns, I’m passionate in working with women’s health and paediatric care as I understand the challenges that come with everything from trying to start a family to trying to manage one.
Some of the health concerns I work with include:
-
Hormone Support (Thyroid conditions, Diabetes, PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids, adenomyosis, heavy and painful periods, amenorrhea, peri-menopause and menopause - including HRT prescribing)
-
Fertility Support (premature ovarian insufficiency, natural conception, IUI/IVF support, reoccurring pregnancy loss, antiphospholipid syndrome)
-
Pregnancy Support (nausea, fatigue, iron deficiency, gestational diabetes, pre-eclampsia, miscarriage, medical terminations, GBS+, UTI, labour prep)
-
Postpartum Care (formula support, breastfeeding support, post partum anxiety and depression, mastitis, adrenal support)
-
Pediatric Care (newborn wellness check, tongue and lip tie assessment, latch support, formula support, eczema, colic, constipation, FPIES, Food introduction, congenital anomoly support)
-
Skin Health (acne, eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, ringworm, psoriasis, dandruff, urticaria)
-
Gut Health (celiac, IBS, IBD, SIBO, fatty liver, parasites, chronic constipation)
-
Mental Health (anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism, learning difficulties and genetic disorders, disordered eating)
-
Cardiovascular disease (congenital heart defects, arrhythmias, post MI support, high cholesterol and diabetes)
A specific interest in cardiology also holds deep in my heart to help support families affected by congenital heart defects as one of my sons was also born with a severe heart defect and required 2 surgeries within his first year of life.
In addition to working at Restoration, I’m also part of the clinic faculty at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and volunteer with the North Shore Women’s Centre and Vancouver Women’s Health Collective

“Wellness encompasses a healthy body, a sound mind, and a tranquil spirit. Enjoy the journey as you strive for wellness” . - Laurette Gagnon Beaulieu
I have been working as a naturopathic doctor for 18 years and my path has guided me toward a focus on mental health. I have discovered that the most profound healing in my patients occurs when we address their underlying mental and emotional health. Often these can be subtle issues, significantly impacting both emotional well-being and physical health. By uncovering limited beliefs, trauma, or unconscious stress patterns, we witness remarkable healing on all levels. Patients not only find relief from physical symptoms but also discover newfound peace, happiness, and improved relationships, leading to increased confidence and a stronger sense of self.
Tailoring to each individual’s needs, I incorporate physical health interventions, such as exercise, and balanced nutrient and supplement prescription. These approaches have been proven to directly impact neurotransmitter levels and brain function, leading to improvements in mood and emotional well-being. Additionally, we address any prevailing physical health issues, aiming for balanced sleep patterns, hormone regulation, and replenishing essential nutrients, all of which help to heal symptoms of stress, depression and anxiety.
Some issues or challenges I can assist you with include:
- Stress management techniques
- Managing and treating depression and anxiety
- Navigating life transitions like career shifts or caring for aging parents
- Relationship issues such as marriage, divorce, or finding a partner
- Coping with grief and loss
- Offering guidance on parenting, including strategies for parenting neurosensitive children and managing neurodevelopmental disorders
- Counselling teenagers
- Self-esteem issues and support finding your path
My role will be to ensure a holistic approach to your physical and mental well-being, and together we will empower you to take charge of your personal journey, cultivate inner peace, and build emotional resilience.

“If you want to dedicate yourself to taking care of your family, your work, or your world – the first task is to learn how to care for your self.” – Dr. Kathleen Mahannah, ND
Coming from a family of healthcare professionals, and as a former varsity athlete and then coach, I combine two of my favourite things in my career in Naturopathic Medicine: feeding my fascination with the human body, and working with people. “Doctor as Teacher”, one of the principles of Naturopathic Medicine, describes the role that I think doctors should play in our lives. I empower individuals with the knowledge, tools and skills, both modern and traditional, to identify and overcome the root cause of disease. As a Naturopathic Physician, I harness the wisdom of healing traditions from across countries and centuries and hone it with modern medical knowledge in order to identify the underlying cause of your health concern and provide the most comprehensive healthcare available. Most importantly, I get to work with people like you, to guide you on your unique, personalized health journey to restore and maintain lasting vibrant health.
I treat families, and particularly enjoy working with:
Women, to support hormone balance (for conditions like Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, PMS, hypothyroidism), fertility, and through the menopause transition;
Individuals experiencing digestive problems or disease (such as indigestion, bloating, abdominal pain, or inflammatory bowel disease);
Men and women experiencing stress-induced fatigue and burnout who want a sustainable, high performance lifestyle.
I prioritize using safe, effective, natural medicine ranging from herbs, targeted nutrient therapy, physical medicine, acupuncture, and intravenous (IV) therapy. I also use my prescription authority when needed, so that we can combine the best of modern and traditional medicine to attain your health goals. Most importantly, I treat you.
To me, healthy living exists in the daily rituals, habits, thoughts and the environment that leaves you feeling energized, vibrant, inspired and empowered. When you feel at your very best, anything is possible! Healthy living includes: eating real food that nourishes us, being physically active (and having fun with it), expressing ourselves creatively, feeling connected to our communities and our environment, and of course, laughter.
As a Lynn Valley native, I’m thrilled to practice in my own hometown. It takes a village to raise a child, and I know first hand how wonderfully involved this physically active and family-oriented community is. My idea of a perfect day on the West Coast would incorporate the best of the mountains and the ocean. You will find me hiking in Lynn Canyon or stand-up paddleboarding in Deep Cove with my dog, or training for my next outdoor physical challenge: Triple Crown on my road bike, or a trail half marathon. After enjoying the mountain air, nothing feels better than exploring the farmer’s market to collect fresh local produce for dinner, and curling up inside with tea in the company of friends or family.
“If you want to dedicate yourself to taking care of your family, your work, or your world – the f...

I help women optimize their hormonal health to feel energetic, strong and empowered through each age and stage.
Women have a unique and constantly changing hormonal experience — through puberty, pregnancy, postpartum, and perimenopause — not to mention the daily hormone fluctuations of our menstrual cycles. I work primarily with female patients ages 13-50, to provide them with healthcare that is tailored to support the female experience.
I am a competitive marathon runner and have experienced firsthand how important hormone health is for female athletes. I’m passionate about helping other women athletes and fitness enthusiasts achieve their best health & peak performance.
Some of the concerns I focus on in my practice include:
- Period & hormone concerns (absent/irregular periods, PCOS, hypothalamic amenorrhea, painful periods, heavy periods, teen periods, perimenopause)
- Mood concerns (PMS/PMDD, depression, anxiety, insomnia)
- Female athlete health (athletic performance, sport nutrition, overtraining, relative-energy deficiency in sport (RED-S), fertility & perinatal health in athletes & return to exercise postpartum)
- Nutrition concerns (Nutritional deficiencies, eating disorders, vegan/vegetarian diets)
Some of the services I provide include:
- Naturopathic Consultations
- Prescriptions
- Bioidentical hormone therapy/ Menopause hormone therapy
- Lab testing - both standard bloodwork and comprehensive testing
- IV vitamin therapy, vitamin injections
- Intravenous iron for the treatment of iron deficiency/anemia
- Pap tests, pelvic exams, and clinical breast exams
- Acupuncture
Outside of seeing patients one-on-one, I frequently speak on the topic of female athlete health to various sporting organizations, athletes, coaches, and parents. I have had the honor of educating my colleagues on my research and clinical experience treating hypothalamic amenorrhea (lack of periods). I am the founder of the SheCan Athlete Health program, a group medicine program at Restoration Health Clinic for teen female athletes.
I help women optimize their hormonal health to feel energetic, strong and empowered through each ...
